The only above ground settlement in the Northern Mountains is found on the far northern point of Arvera. There a small village of primarily humans and Littles seek out a living, hunting game or fishing in the cold, turbulent waters of the northern sea. Many of its residents were once outcasts, escaped criminals, or shipwrecked sailors, and those who decided to stay have made a life for themselves there, primitive and difficult though it might be. The closest settlement is Holmund, in the far north of the North Kingdom, hundreds of miles to the south. In the warm seasons, goods and travellers can come and go by sea, but in the long, harsh cold seasons, the residents of Nope are truly alone, unless they undertake the long sled dog journey south to Holmund.
